Breaking: Contract extension with the Lions, Jared Goff provides an update.

The fact that the massive deal extension involving quarterback Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions hasn’t been completed doesn’t bother him. Goff updated media on the status of his negotiations with general manager Brad Holmes on Tuesday while working out offseason.

Goff stated, “You never want to like say something [about wanting to rush and sign].” “There have been discussions, and Brad has informed the media as he has, and I will reiterate that there have been discussions.” Yes, my agent is keeping an eye on everything and doing a great job; I have faith in those individuals.

It’s obvious that both the Lions and Goff want the deal to close. Head coach Dan Campbell stated early in the offseason that securing long-term contracts for quarterback QB Josh Goff and standout receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was of utmost importance. Indeed, you hope that a transaction is completed quickly, Goff continued. However, I have no influence over that. I would love to stay here for a very long time since I adore it here.
A new contract extension projection for Lions quarterback Jared Goff

The 29-year-old quarterback is in the fourth year of a four-year, $134 million contract, with a $32.3 million cap charge in 2024. Considering many of the league’s best passers make upwards of $50 million annually, this contract is quite inexpensive.

Goff, who has revived his career in Detroit under offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, should be among the seven highest-paid quarterbacks in the league with his next contract, which is expected to fall between $45 million and $50 million annually. Working with Johnson for three seasons—two as offensive coordinator and one as passing game coordinator—With a 96.2 passer rating, Goff has completed 66.5 percent of his throws for 12,258 yards, 78 touchdowns, and 27 interceptions. Since moving to Detroit, he has the seventh-most touchdown passes and the fourth-most passing yards.
