REPORT: In 11 innings, the Guardians defeat the Red Sox 10-7 thanks to a crucial hit from José Ramírez.

Boston (AP) — On Tuesday night, the Cleveland Guardians defeated the Boston Red Sox 10-7 thanks to a game-winning RBI single from José Ramírez in the 11th inning.

Ramírez struck Josh Winckowski (1-1) with a low liner back up the middle with no outs and runners on first and second. Estevan Florial added a two-run single after Bo Naylor was intentionally walked and Brayan Rocchio made a sacrifice.

Emmanuel Clase (1-0) of Cleveland pitched the 10th inning to earn the victory, giving up Connor Wong’s game-winning sacrifice fly. For his first save of the year, Scott Barlow got three outs while striking out two.

The AL Central-leading Guardians won for the third straight game behind two singles and two RBIs from Gabriel Arias. Tyler Freeman hit a home run, and Steven Kwan had three hits and two scores.

Cleveland is now 12-5. For the first time since 1948, it has won nine of its first eleven away games.

Being a member of the team and its camaraderie is a lot of fun. This year has been a lot of fun,” Barlow remarked.

“Just the tenacity and never giving up. Anything is possible. That serves as a sort of model of tonight, which is a lot of fun.

Boston, down 5-1 after five innings, was helped by a two-run home drive by Wong. Triston Casas and Enmanuel Valdez both went in-depth.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora remarked, “It’s tough.” However, we will be present tomorrow. There are still two games left in our homestand. Thus far, it has not been easy. However, we arrive here, triumph in two games, and then prepare for Pittsburgh (this Friday).

With a two-run double to end Boston’s five-run sixth, Rafael Devers gave the Red Sox a 6-5 lead.

However, Cleveland’s RBI single against Kenley Jansen in the ninth inning allowed Andrés Giménez to tie the game. It was the season’s first blown save for Jansen.

Jansen, who had no trouble grasping the ball on Sunday unlike in his previous appearance, declared, “Today’s a day that you just got to tip your hat to the Guardians.” “There is nothing you can do about it; they did a great job putting the ball in play.”

When Arias singled in Rocchio in the tenth, the Guardians took the lead once more. But in the bottom half, Wong answered for the Red Sox.

That is astounding. First-year Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt commented, “I mean, what a game.” “There in the sixth, we took a fairly hard kick to the teeth, and it hurt quite bad. However, we later returned with force, and after they once more tied it up, here we are.

For Cleveland, right-hander Tanner Bibee got the start and pitched five innings, giving up a single run on a home run by Valdez in the fourth inning with two outs. Bibee walked two and gave up five hits.

In four innings, Garrett Whitlock, a right-hander for Boston, was charged with two runs and three hits. He left due to tightness in his left oblique.
